Lagos Police Arrest 147 Hoodlums, Seize Weapons in Raids

On July 19, 2026, the Lagos State Police Command conducted a coordinated operation that resulted in the arrest of 147 suspects identified as hoodlums. The operation, which began at 5:30 AM, was based on credible intelligence and involved a joint team from various police formations.

During the raids, police recovered 250 expanded cartridges, two knives, five battle axes, a pair of scissors, assorted charms, and 22 machetes, along with substances suspected to be Indian hemp. Abimbola Adebisi, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, stated that the operation aimed to flush out criminal elements and ensure the safety of residents.

The suspects are currently in police custody, and investigations are ongoing to determine their level of involvement in criminal activities. Fatai Tijani, the Commissioner of Police for Lagos State, commended the success of the operation and reiterated the command's commitment to sustaining efforts against criminal elements in the state.
