Lagos Police Arrest 23 Cultists, Seize Firearms in Raid

The Lagos State Police Command conducted a state-wide raid, resulting in the arrest of 23 suspected cultists and the recovery of five firearms. The operation was coordinated by SP Abimbola Adebisi and implemented under the direction of CP Tijani Fatai.

The raids took place simultaneously in various locations, including Ikorodu, Lagos Island, Okoko, Ilasan, Ogba, and Iju, as part of a crackdown on cultism and violent crime. Preliminary investigations indicated that some suspects were affiliated with the Buccaneers confraternity, known as the Sea Lords.

Four suspects were apprehended in Ikorodu following credible intelligence linking them to cult activities. Additionally, five suspects were arrested in Ilasan connected to the cult-related killing of Emmanuel Obioson.

The police also intercepted firearms linked to cult activities in Okoko and arrested four suspects involved in illegal cult gatherings and violent crimes. The recovered exhibits included five locally made pistols, 15 live cartridges, three expended cartridges, and various camouflage items.

The suspects will be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
