Lagos Police Arrest 23 Cultists, Seize Firearms in Raids

The Lagos Police Command conducted an operation that resulted in the arrest of 23 suspected cultists and the recovery of firearms, including five locally made pistols, 15 live cartridges, and three expendable cartridges. The operation was led by CP Tijani Fatai and involved simultaneous raids in Ikorodu, Lagos Island, Okoko, Ilasan, and Ogba Iju, targeting known criminal hideouts linked to cult activities.

SP Abimbola Adebisi disclosed that four suspects were apprehended in Ikorodu based on credible intelligence related to cult activities. Preliminary investigations indicated affiliations with the Buccaneers confraternity, known as the Sea Lords.

Nine suspects were arrested during the raid on Lagos Island, while five others were connected to a cult-related killing of Emmanuel Obioson in Okoko. The police noted that the suspects, aged between 18 and 43, are currently in custody as investigations continue.

CP Fatai urged residents to remain vigilant and support security agencies with credible information.
