Police Arrest Officers After Accidental Shooting in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command confirmed the arrest of officers involved in the accidental shooting of two innocent passersby in Alagbado, Lagos. The incident occurred during an operation aimed at apprehending internet fraudsters, commonly referred to as "yahoo boys." Eyewitnesses reported that the victims were not connected to the suspects.

The exact circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear. Residents noted that the police frequently set up checkpoints in the area, allegedly collecting illegal fees from commercial drivers and motorcyclists.

SP Abimbola Adebisi, the state police public relations officer, stated that the arrested officers have been taken into custody, and Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundar Jimoh, has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident. Additional personnel have been deployed to the area to maintain law and order, and the police assured residents that justice will be served, with the outcome of the investigation to be made public upon conclusion.
