Lagos Police Neutralize Kidnap Gang, Recover N300m Assets

On May 24, 2026, the Lagos State Police Command, led by Commissioner Tijani Fatai, neutralized four members of a kidnapping gang targeting wealthy businessmen in the Ejigbo area. The operation followed credible intelligence and involved a gun duel where the suspects opened fire on the police.

The police recovered firearms, including AK-47 rifles and a Toyota Sienna vehicle. Additionally, ten suspects were arrested during various operations in May 2026, with significant recoveries including N300 million worth of assets linked to criminal activities.

One suspect, Akintayo Wasiu, was arrested for allegedly stealing a vehicle and relocating it to Ibadan. Another suspect, Chibuzor Mogbo, was implicated in a conspiracy to steal premium motor spirit worth over N1 billion.

The police are continuing investigations to apprehend fleeing gang members and have made significant strides in addressing ongoing cultism issues in the area.
