Police Restore Order on Badagry Expressway After Clash

The Lagos State Police Command reopened the Badagry Expressway on Saturday after a deadly communal clash between youths from Otto and Ijanikin disrupted traffic for several hours. The incident resulted in the death of Akinyemi Omo Akin, who sustained gunshot injuries and later died in the hospital.

Police spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi confirmed that the expressway was fully cleared and reopened to motorists around 9:00 AM. Commissioner of Police Olohundar Jimoh led a combined team of police tactical units to restore order and ensure free movement.

Preliminary investigations indicated that cultists were involved in the clash, which led to the arrest of seven suspects linked to the violence. The police recovered a local fabric pistol and two live cartridges from the suspects.

Anti-riot personnel have been deployed to the affected areas, and the police warned against further breaches of public peace. Residents have been urged to remain calm and report any suspicious activities.
