Lagos Investigates School Building Collapse in Ogba

On Monday, a four-story building located on Adu Street in the Aguda area of Ogba, Lagos State, collapsed. The structure housed a private school, and fortunately, no casualties were reported as students and staff were able to evacuate safely.

The Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), led by Director of Public Affairs Adu Ademuyiwa, confirmed the incident and stated that preliminary observations indicated ongoing structural issues. Following the collapse, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency responded to the site to assess the situation and ensure public safety.

Residents in nearby buildings were advised to vacate temporarily while safety assessments were conducted. Concerns were raised regarding ongoing renovation work that may have contributed to the collapse, as suggested by local resident Ajibola Salami.

This incident follows a similar occurrence in January when students narrowly escaped injury when a classroom block at Odokeker High School in Ikorodu collapsed.
