Lagos School Collapse: Students Escape Unharmed

On a day marked by chaos, students at a school located along Adudatu Street in the Aguda area of Ogba, Lagos State, experienced a structural collapse around 11 AM. The incident occurred during an ongoing demolition exercise of a distressed building, which had previously shown signs of structural issues.

Eyewitness accounts describe a loud cracking noise followed by dust filling the air, prompting students to scramble for safety. Notably, a 14-year-old student named Bless recounted the moment of panic as she and her classmates fled the classroom.

The Lagos State Fire Rescue Service confirmed that no injuries or fatalities were reported, as officials quickly cordoned off the premises to restrict access. The school population is estimated to be between 600 and 800 students.

The incident raised alarms in the neighborhood, especially as parts of the building's roof had reportedly begun to fall off prior to the collapse.
