Lagos Pupils Excel at SAMDA Nigeria U-13 Football Tournament

The SAMDA Nigeria U-13 tournament showcased the talents of young footballers in Lagos, where the Kosof Mushin Local Government Area team triumphed over Opebi Primary School from Ikeja with a score of 3-0. The tournament featured various categories, including a match where Kosof also defeated Badagry 3-1.

The event was inaugurated by former international player Waidi Akanni, who performed the kickoff ceremony and offered words of encouragement. Bisi Joseph, the president of Lagos State School Sports, and Tajudeen Disu, the chairman of SAMDA Nigeria chapter, highlighted the importance of sustaining support for grassroots sports.

Disu emphasized that the U-13 football tournament serves as a foundation for broader grassroots development and aims to create opportunities for young people. Toni Kona Fele, the CEO, noted that the grassroots tournament would also help identify talent for basketball, facilitating pathways for individuals to pursue higher education in institutions in the USA and Canada.
