Odumosu Tennis Event Promotes Grassroots Sports Development

The Odumosu tennis event, organized to honor Olusola Odumosu of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, represents a significant step towards grassroots sports development and youth engagement. The tournament took place over three days at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, starting on Wednesday and concluding on Friday.

It attracted young players across different categories, with top-ranked player Canic Abua winning the men's singles title after a hard-fought match, finishing 7-5, 6-4 against Lucki Danjuma, who is ranked fourth nationally. In the boys' category, Alex defeated Khale Dalha in straight sets to claim the title, while Salvat Alex triumphed over Opeyemi Olademeji in the girls' singles event.

This initiative, marking the birthday of Olusola Odumosu, is designed to uncover young talent and strengthen the foundation of tennis development in Nigeria, providing youth with opportunities to excel in sports and channel their energy positively, thereby reducing tendencies towards criminal activities.
