Lagos Hosts 3rd Edition of The Athletics School Games

The Athletics School Games (TASG) is set to hold its third edition at the Sport Complex Yaba College of Technology in Lagos on March 20-21. This two-day event will feature competitions in sprints, middle-distance races, and field events, with a focus on developing young athletes aged 4 to 16.

Dr. Seun Akinbohun, the organizer, noted that TASG has evolved into a credible grassroots platform for track and field in Nigeria since its inception in 2024.

This edition will uniquely separate primary school events from secondary school contests to improve scheduling and recovery times for athletes. The event aims to promote sportsmanship and character development among participants, with the introduction of the Kashopefoluwa Sportsmanship Award to honor athletes who exemplify integrity and respect.

Despite facing challenges such as funding and infrastructure limitations, Akinbohun remains committed to nurturing youth sports and providing a competitive platform for emerging talent.
