Lagos Hosts 3rd TASG to Nurture Young Athletic Talent

The 3rd edition of the TASG (Athletic School Games) commenced at the Yaba College of Technology Sports Complex in Lagos, where 20 schools are competing over two days. The event, conceived by Dr.

Seun Akinbohun, aims to nurture talent among children aged 4 to 16 years. This year's edition introduces significant innovations, including the separation of primary and secondary school events to allow smoother scheduling and better recovery time for athletes.

The event will utilize a technical officiating time system to meet higher standards. Dr.

Akinbohun highlighted that TASG serves as a competitive platform for talent discovery, providing young athletes with exposure to future opportunities. The event emphasizes sportsmanship and character development, with the Kashopefoluwa Sportsmanship Award presented to athletes exemplifying integrity and discipline.

Despite challenges in funding and infrastructure, the event remains self-financed, relying on independent sources. The introduction of the 400m hurdles in the senior secondary category and a strict focus on school-based participation are key highlights of this year's games.
