LASEMA Manages 18 Emergencies in Lagos Without Fatalities

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) disclosed that it responded to 18 major emergency incidents across Lagos State from June 14 to June 21, 2026, with no fatalities recorded. The spokesperson, Afolabi Olawal, noted that the incidents included road traffic crashes, fire outbreaks, and infrastructure failures.

A significant incident occurred on June 18 at Maryland roundabout, where a 40-foot container was involved in an accident, and a victim was successfully extricated and taken to Gbagada Orthopaedic Hospital for advanced care. Fire outbreaks included one at a factory belonging to Copaci Nigeria Limited in Okota on June 15, which was contained with the help of multiple emergency agencies.

LASEMA's success was attributed to sustained investments in emergency response infrastructure and personnel training by the Lagos State government under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's agenda. The agency urged residents to report emergencies promptly using its toll-free line and advised motorists on vehicle maintenance and compliance with traffic regulations.
