Lagos School Building Collapse After Emergency Evacuation

On Monday afternoon, a four-storey school building housing Yemco Nursery and Primary Comprehensive College in Aguda, Lagos, collapsed shortly after an emergency evacuation was conducted. The Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education confirmed that the evacuation, which took place within three minutes, ensured the safety of all students and staff, preventing serious casualties.

The incident occurred around noon at 11 Adu Street, behind County Hospital, Aguda. Officials from the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) arrived at the scene to observe the collapsed structure, which had already been sealed off as part of emergency safety measures to prevent further danger.

Preliminary findings confirmed that there were no injuries or loss of life, and the evacuation was carried out promptly. The Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, led by Hon.

Jamiu Ali Balogun, noted that there were no prior reports of structural defects or safety concerns linked to the building.
