Lagos Warns Content Creators Using Children in Skits of 14 Years Imprisonment

Lagos State has issued a strong warning to content creators engaging children in online content, cautioning against violating child protection laws. The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (LSDSVA) expressed deep concern over the increasing trend of minors being featured in digital content that undermines their dignity and safety.

The state government highlighted existing laws prohibiting the exploitation of minors, including the Child's Right Law and the Cybercrime Law. Violators could face up to 14 years in prison for offenses such as child labor, abuse, and exploitation.

The government emphasized a zero-tolerance stance on child abuse and warned against using popularity as a defense. This warning comes after a report of a content creator, Iyo, sharing an encounter where men claiming to be police officers allegedly kidnapped and dressed her in a police uniform.
