Lagos State Government Warns Content Creators Violating Child Rights, Threatens Sanctions

The Lagos State Government issued a warning to content creators and influencers producing online content that violates child protection laws. The government, through a joint statement signed by officials including Mobolaji Ogunlende and Titilola Vivour Adeniyi, highlighted the legal protection of children under Nigerian law, emphasizing the need to safeguard minors from exploitation and harm in digital content.

Violations such as the sexual exploitation of minors through content creation are considered criminal offenses under various legal frameworks, including the Lagos State Child's Right Law of 2015 and the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015. The statement referenced specific sections of these laws that prohibit child labor, abuse, and sexual offenses against children.

The government reiterated its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy towards child abuse and pledged to collaborate with law enforcement agencies to ensure full compliance with existing laws. Content creators were advised to familiarize themselves with applicable legal provisions to protect children's rights in their creative expressions.
