Lagos State Urges Transport Operators to Prioritize Safety

The Lagos State government has highlighted the necessity of safety standards for transport operators and drivers in a recent village meeting organized by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA). Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the Commissioner for Transport, praised the contributions of transport operators to the state's economy and urged them to strictly adhere to traffic regulations to ensure safety across the transport network.

He emphasized that compliance with operational standards is essential for building a reliable public transport system. Osiyemi assured stakeholders of the government's continued support and encouraged transport companies to prioritize staff welfare and improve efficiency.

Kemi Amur, representing LAMATA, and Abimbola Akinajo presented progress reports on previous stakeholder engagements, identifying operational gaps and areas for improvement. The meeting included representatives from regulatory security agencies and outlined safety guidelines and compliance requirements aimed at enhancing the quality of public transport in Lagos State.
