Lagos State Launches Safety Campaign for Dispatch Riders

Lagos State is taking significant steps to reduce the increasing number of accidents involving dispatch riders on major highways. The General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Mr.

Olalekan Bakar Oki, disclosed in an interview that the agency is collaborating with written unions representing dispatch riders as part of its ongoing traffic safety advocacy. The strategy includes convening stakeholders, engaging courier service operators, and promoting strict adherence to safety regulations.

The campaign aims to prioritize the safety of road users and enhance compliance with traffic laws. Additionally, LASTMA is committed to ensuring optimal safety and security for lives and properties in Lagos State.

The agency plans to engage youth through school traffic advocacy programs to promote road safety awareness and responsible behavior. LASTMA has already reached 38 to 39 percent of schools in Lagos State from January to March, indicating progress in its safety initiatives.
