Lagos to Deliver 2,000 Housing Units by Next May

The Lagos State Government is committed to completing 2,000 housing units by May next year, particularly in the Abraham Adesanya area of Sangotedo, Ibeju Lekki. Moruf Akinderu-Fatai, the Commissioner for Housing, expressed satisfaction with the progress during an inspection tour of the ongoing housing project.

He emphasized the need for contractors to accelerate their work and assured that the government would closely monitor the project to ensure timely delivery and value for money. The Ministry has identified several technical issues requiring immediate attention, and Akinderu-Fatai warned that the government would not hesitate to sanction or replace non-performing contractors.

Rising costs of building materials due to inflation have also impacted project timelines, prompting contractors to seek cost reviews. The Lagos State Government aims to address these challenges and ensure the completion of housing projects for residents, as part of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's administration's commitment to expanding housing infrastructure.
