Lagos State to Complete 2,000 Housing Units Soon

The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to completing over 2,000 housing units currently under construction in the Abraham Adesanya, Sangotedo, and Ibeju Lekki areas before the end of the current administration. Hon. Moruf Akinderu-Fatai, the Commissioner for Housing, expressed satisfaction with the progress made during an inspection tour but noted the need for contractors to accelerate their work.

He emphasized that the government will closely monitor the projects to ensure timely delivery and value for money. The Ministry has identified several technical issues requiring immediate attention, which have affected the pace of work.

Akinderu-Fatai warned that the government would not hesitate to sanction or replace non-performing contractors. He also mentioned that inflation and rising construction material costs have significantly impacted project timelines, forcing contractors to seek cost reviews.

The government remains committed to expanding housing infrastructure to benefit Lagos residents.
