Lagos Government Engages Local Councils for Tourism Growth

The Lagos State Government is actively seeking to involve Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the development of tourism and cultural assets. Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Idris Aregbe, made this announcement during a strategic engagement meeting held at Delborough Hotel, Victoria Island.

The meeting, which included supervisors, special advisers, and representatives from various LGAs and LCDAs, aimed to foster grassroots participation in identifying and promoting local cultural resources. Aregbe stated that the initiative is crucial for building Lagos as a premier tourism destination in Africa, emphasizing that local stakeholders play a vital role in preserving heritage and supporting festivals.

The engagement also included discussions with development partners on how to support tourism initiatives through strategic partnerships. The Deputy High Commissioner of Canada to Nigeria, Carlos Rojas-Arbulú, attended the meeting, noting the growing international interest in Lagos' tourism potential.
