Lagos Task Force Arrests 50 Miscreants During Sanitation

On a Sunday, the Lagos State Task Force, led by Chairman Adetayo Akerel, arrested 50 suspected miscreants, identified as street urchins, along the Lekki-Epe Expressway. These individuals were allegedly disturbing public peace and attempting to exploit the sanitation period to perpetrate criminal activities.

According to agency spokesperson Raheem Gbadeyan, the arrests are part of a statewide enforcement exercise coinciding with the monthly environmental sanitation operations across Lagos State. The operation commenced in the early hours of the day and aimed to address threats to public infrastructure, including vandalism of billboards and road signage.

The suspects will be charged in court accordingly. The enforcement team was deployed to several hotspots across the state to ensure compliance with sanitation regulations, with monitoring activities in areas such as Ikeja, Iyana Ipaja, and Lekki.

The task force emphasized the importance of community participation in maintaining cleanliness and warned against playing street football during sanitation hours.
