Lagos Taskforce Denies Traffic Enforcement Claims

On Tuesday, the Lagos State Taskforce, through its Director of Public Affairs, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, dismissed claims circulating online that it was conducting traffic enforcement operations around Sheraton Link Bridge, inward Opebi along Toyin Street. The agency described these allegations as entirely unsubstantiated and malicious, aimed at tarnishing its image.

This statement followed a directive issued on April 1, 2026, by the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Tijani, which suspended traffic enforcement activities across Lagos State.

The directive was intended to prevent a breakdown of law and order and to ensure sustained peace. The Taskforce clarified that its current operations are strictly focused on environmental enforcement and the removal of criminal elements, including miscreants and drug addicts.

Additionally, the agency warned that unauthorized individuals engaging in illegal enforcement activities would face arrest and prosecution.
