Lagos Police Withdraw Taskforce from Traffic Enforcement

The Lagos State Police Command, through spokesperson SP Abimbola Adebisi, announced on Tuesday the immediate withdrawal of the Lagos State Environment Sanitation Special Offence Unit taskforce from traffic enforcement duties across the state. This decision is part of ongoing efforts to streamline traffic management operations and enhance professional accountability among agencies involved in traffic enforcement.

The Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, directed this change, clarifying that while the taskforce will no longer participate in traffic-related activities, its statutory responsibilities remain fully intact. The police further urged residents and motorists to verify the identity of personnel from the agency making claims related to traffic enforcement.

This move aims to maintain law and order and ensure that operations adhere strictly to legal standards and global best practices.
