Lagos Threatens Clampdown on Speeding Tanker and Truck Drivers After Crash

Lagos State, under the leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has issued a stern warning to tanker and truck drivers to adhere strictly to traffic laws, particularly speed limits. The warning comes in response to a recent incident involving a heavy-duty truck transporting compressed natural gas that was speeding and caused a crash near Apakun Bridge in Oshodi. The Lagos State Government, through transport official Mr. Sola Giwa, has vowed to take decisive action against drivers found culpable of reckless and unlawful driving practices that endanger human lives.

The incident, which resulted in a collision with a silver Toyota Corolla and injuries to pedestrians and the car driver, prompted a swift response from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority. The authorities mobilized rescue efforts, extricated victims, and provided medical treatment to the injured. The government emphasized the need to maintain public safety and order during emergency responses and highlighted the inherent dangers posed by speeding trucks carrying highly combustible cargo.
