One Dead, Four Injured in Lagos Tanker Accident

On Friday, at around 7:30 PM, a fatal accident occurred at Ekoro Junction, inward Abule Egba, Lagos, when a Mack tanker, registered EKI 900 XY, suffered a sudden brake failure. The driver lost control, colliding with a Toyota Corolla, registered AAA 823 AY, and subsequently crashing into a nearby shop.

The impact resulted in extensive damage and left one person dead and four others trapped in the wreckage. Emergency responders confirmed the casualties at the scene, and the injured were taken for medical treatment.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) activated its rescue protocol to manage the situation and prevent further incidents. A police investigation has been launched, and a manhunt is underway for the tanker driver, who reportedly fled the scene shortly after the crash.

LASTMA General Manager Olalekan Bakar Oki expressed condolences to the victims' families and emphasized the importance of routine vehicle checks to prevent mechanical failures that lead to severe road accidents.
