LASTMA and Fire Service Prevent Disaster After Diesel Tanker Accident in Lagos

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service collaborated to prevent a fire outbreak following a diesel tanker mishap on Liverpool Bridge in Lagos. The incident involved a heavily laden diesel tanker losing control and toppling onto the bridge, causing structural damage and a significant diesel spillage.

Sola Giwa, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Transport, coordinated the rescue operations and security measures to neutralize the imminent threat of combustion. The driver of the tanker sustained severe injuries and was promptly taken to a hospital in Apapa for medical attention.

The Nigeria Police Force also provided security reinforcement to ensure public safety and order at the scene.
