Lagos State Warns Against Unsafe Water Consumption Due to Health Risks

The Lagos State government, through the Lagos State Water Regulatory Commission, has cautioned against the consumption of unsafe water sources to prevent health and environmental hazards. Oluwabukola Adeyemo, the Executive Secretary of the commission, highlighted the dangers of untreated water, emphasizing the risks of waterborne diseases like cholera and typhoid fever.

Adeyemo stressed the need for proper water treatment to safeguard public health and reduce the burden on medical facilities. Additionally, she warned about the environmental consequences of unregulated groundwater extraction, including land subsidence and increased flood risks.
