Lamido Links Northern Nigeria Insecurity to Leadership Failures

Alhaji Sule Lamido, a former governor of Jigawa State and a chieftain of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), stated that the insecurity in Northern Nigeria is a result of poor leadership and a gradual collapse of moral upbringing in society. In an interview on Wednesday, he highlighted the urgent need to rebuild discipline and strengthen proper upbringing among the youth across the North.

Lamido criticized political leaders for abandoning their core duties of protecting lives and property, focusing instead on personal interests. He argued that the insecurity faced in the region is exacerbated by politicians who contribute to the destruction of young people's lives.

He noted that insurgents and bandits are not outsiders but rather individuals from within the region, including members of Boko Haram. Lamido expressed support for the creation of state police, emphasizing that proper training and discipline are essential for addressing insecurity.

He concluded that justice and accountability among northern leaders are crucial for restoring peace and stability in the region.
