Lagos State Disburses N799.84m to Deceased Workers' Families

The Lagos State Government has paid N799.84 million to 148 beneficiaries of deceased public servants under an insurance benefit scheme designed to support families after the loss of their loved ones. This payment, part of the first tranche of insurance benefit payments for 2026, was approved by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

During a presentation ceremony, Dr. Nurudeen Agbaj, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, emphasized the administration's commitment to the welfare of public servants and their dependents.

He commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for sustaining the payment of insurance benefits, which has previously totaled N5 billion for beneficiaries of deceased local government employees since 2017. Agbaj urged beneficiaries to deploy the funds judiciously, particularly for the welfare and education of their children.

Kikelomo Bolarinwa, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, represented the local government administration at the event, highlighting the significant contributions of deceased officers to Lagos State's development.
