Jigawa State Disburses N1.39bn to Retirees and Families

The Jigawa State Local Government Contributory Pension Scheme Board disbursed a total of N1,389,857,763.37 to 560 beneficiaries, including retirees and families of deceased civil servants. This announcement was made by the Executive Secretary, Bilyaminu Aminu, during an address to beneficiaries in Dutsin-Ma.

The payments included N1,101,443,426.68 for 453 retired civil servants and N261,855,040.41 for 90 active workers. Additionally, N26,559,296.28 was allocated to the next of kin of 17 pensioners who had completed five years of retirement.

Governor Umar Namadi was credited for the prompt payment, which aims to ensure financial security for retirees. Abdullahi Shehu, the State Accountant General, noted that the government injected N9 billion into the pension scheme in 2023 to stabilize its operations.

Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the timely payments, which they indicated would assist in settling debts and meeting basic needs.
