Lagos State Government and Stakeholders Advocate for Intra-Africa Tourism to Boost Economic Development

The Lagos State Government, in collaboration with stakeholders, is promoting intra-Africa tourism to enhance cultural exchange and stimulate economic growth. At the launch event of the Kenya Holiday Tour 2026 at the Marriott Hotel in Ikeja, Toke Benson Awoyinka of the Lagos State Commission for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, along with other speakers like Bopo Oyekan Ismaila, emphasized the importance of supporting the state government's initiatives.

The trip to Nairobi is expected to have a positive economic impact on Lagos State, with benefits from the tourism exchange program with Kenya. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu aims to position Lagos as a premium tourism destination, driving the economy towards a 21st-century model.

Michael Kadiri, CEO of Leisure Republic, praised the initiative as a new standard for African leisure travel, with a focus on promoting Africa's culture and hospitality globally. Damilola Afolabi, an Afrobeat artist, expressed excitement about representing the initiative on social media to create awareness about Kenya and Africa as a whole.
