LASPA Delays On-Street Parking Scheme Rollout in Lagos

The Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) has postponed the complete implementation of its on-street parking scheme, emphasizing the need for improved coordination with private-sector partners and their training prior to full deployment. Adebisi Adelabu, the General Manager of LASPA, stated that while some on-street parking activities are already occurring in parts of Lagos, the initiative has not yet fully commenced across all intended areas.
The delay is attributed to the necessity for effective synergy and training of private-sector partners. Adelabu announced plans to introduce QR-coded uniforms and identification cards for authorized parking agents and marshals to help motorists identify legitimate personnel.
She highlighted that technology would play a crucial role in the parking system, which requires accurate data and integration among government agencies. Additionally, one out of every ten parking spaces will be reserved for persons living with disabilities.
LASPA did not provide a timeline for the full rollout or specify the locations for the next phase.
