LASPA to Enforce N500m Parking Fee Compliance Soon

Adebisi Adelabu, the General Manager of the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA), stated that the agency will commence enforcement actions against organizations and businesses that have defaulted on parking fee payments by the end of September. As of last year, these defaulters owed between N400m and N500m.

Adelabu explained that the agency had initially planned to enforce earlier but chose to advocate for compliance first. She noted that 2025 was atypical due to internal restructuring.

In the agency's first full operating year, it generated over N1bn and aims to triple that amount by 2027. Adelabu emphasized that paying parking fees is not a new requirement, as businesses previously paid local governments before LASPA assumed responsibility.

She warned that non-compliance could lead to enforcement actions, including clamping, towing, or business shutdowns through court orders. However, she expressed a preference for compliance, urging businesses to treat parking payments as part of their financial obligations.
