Lagos State Government Enhances Truck Compliance Enforcement

The Lagos State Government has announced plans to intensify enforcement of the E-Call-Up system for truckers along the Apapa and Lekki Port corridors. This initiative, led by Sola Giwa, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, aims to address identified gaps in the current enforcement process.

A strategy meeting held at the Ministry of Transportation included key figures such as Olalekan Bakare-Oki, the General Manager of LASTMA, and other senior officers. The government intends to deploy additional traffic management personnel to the Lekki Port corridor to ensure compliance with the E-Call-Up system, which is a digital platform designed to manage truck movement and reduce traffic congestion.

As of May, over 28,000 trucks were registered under the system. The renewed enforcement strategy follows months of planning and public engagement, with implementation scheduled to strengthen traffic management around the ports.
