Lassa Fever Claims Life of 44-Year-Old Woman in Ibadan

On April 11, 2026, a 44-year-old woman in Ibadan was confirmed to have died from Lassa fever, as stated by the Oyo State government. Dr.

Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, the commissioner for health, reported that the case was confirmed at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan. Following the confirmation of the Lassa fever case, the state government, through the ministry of health, activated its emergency response mechanism to address the situation.

Dr. Ajetunmobi emphasized the importance of identifying and monitoring contacts of the deceased to prevent further spread of the disease.

Additionally, measures are being taken to ensure that a safe and dignified burial is conducted for the deceased.
