LASTMA Pursues Partnership with China for Traffic Tech

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) is pursuing a strategic partnership with the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Lagos to implement advanced technology for traffic management. General Manager Olalekan Bakare-Oki led a delegation to the Chinese Consulate, where they discussed collaboration on traffic management, technological innovation, and urban mobility.

Bakare-Oki highlighted the necessity of a technology-driven traffic management system to tackle Lagos' increasing vehicular population and mobility demands. He stated that LASTMA aims to adopt Intelligent Transportation Systems, real-time traffic monitoring, smart surveillance, and data-driven enforcement.

The partnership is expected to provide LASTMA with access to international expertise and innovative solutions tailored to Lagos' transportation needs. Yan Yuqing, the Consul General, welcomed the discussions, emphasizing the importance of institutional exchanges in transportation and technology.

The talks included topics such as traffic data management and operational efficiency.
