LASTMA Calls for Union Support to Enhance Lagos Traffic

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has sought stronger cooperation from transportation unions to enhance traffic flow and encourage responsible road use across Lagos. This appeal was made during a traffic advocacy and public enlightenment engagement held in the Ikeja area.

LASTMA's initiative aims to combine enforcement with public education and stakeholder collaboration, focusing on voluntary compliance with traffic regulations. Officials educated union members on the importance of obeying traffic rules, maintaining discipline while driving, and avoiding actions that could lead to congestion or risk other road users.

General Manager Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki stated that lasting improvements in traffic management require continuous public enlightenment and cooperation with transport stakeholders. He urged union leaders to prioritize regular sensitization of their members regarding the consequences of violating traffic rules, emphasizing the critical role transportation operators play in maintaining order and safety on Lagos roads.
