LASU VC Urges Staff Unions To Call Off Strike

The Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji, has urged staff unions to call off their strike and return to work. In a statement released over the weekend, the VC acknowledged the grievances of the unions but emphasized the need to move forward and resume academic and administrative activities.

The strike, which began two weeks ago, was in response to demands that the state government has partially met. The Joint Action Committee, comprising various unions, had gone on strike, leading to the closure of the university and the evacuation of students from hostels.

The VC highlighted the university's achievements and commitment to staff welfare, including timely salary payments, promotions, and other benefits. The appeal comes as a call for unity and dialogue to resolve the ongoing issues and ensure the smooth functioning of the institution.
