Ethan Mbappe's Late Goal Sends Lille to Ligue 1 Summit

Ethan Mbappe redeemed himself after receiving a red card in a Champions League match by scoring a late goal in Lille OSC's 2-0 win over Troyes on Sunday, which sent Lille to the top of Ligue 1. The 19-year-old, brother of Kylian Mbappe, had been sent off during Lille's 3-2 home loss to Real Betis for elbowing an opponent.

In the match against Troyes, he came off the bench to secure victory in stoppage time after Tiago Santos had given Lille a first-half lead. Following his goal, Mbappe celebrated in a subdued manner, apologizing to supporters for his earlier red card.

This goal marked his first since December and helped Lille surpass Monaco and Rennes on goal difference at the top of the table. Under new coach Davide Ancelotti, Lille has accumulated 10 points from a possible 12.
