Six Nursing Students Die in Tragic Road Accident

On February 22, 2026, six nursing students from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) lost their lives in a tragic road accident on the Ilorin-Ogbomoso road. The students, identified as Shehu Nana, Firdawsi Hamza, Idri Jamila Abdulraheem, Maimunah Hamza, Bless Kevw Owoicho, and Elizabeth Arok Ozav, were traveling from Suleja in Niger State to their campus for final examinations when the incident occurred.

Olayinka Balogun, the registrar of LAUTECH, described the event as a significant loss for the university community, emphasizing the students' determination and resilience in pursuing their educational dreams. This incident marks the second fatal crash involving final-year students in Kwara State within a month, following the death of a 400-level student from Kwara State University on February 5, 2026.

The university management extended condolences to the families of the deceased and urged the public to pray for their souls.
