Five Die in Ogun State Road Crashes Involving Trucks

On Tuesday, two tragic road accidents occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State, resulting in the deaths of five individuals, including a woman who had recently returned from the UK. The first incident happened at 11:16 PM on Monday along the Ijebu-Imushin axis, involving a Toyota Hiace bus and a stationary blue MAN diesel truck owned by Julius Berger.

According to Afolabi Odunsi, spokesperson for the Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the truck was being towed when its chain snapped, leaving it stationary on the road. The bus subsequently collided with the truck, killing all four occupants—two men and two women—on the spot.

The second incident occurred at 5:48 PM on the same day, where a woman, also a UK returnee, died after her Toyota Camry crashed into a moving truck near Christoph University. Babatunde Akinbiyi, spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance Enforcement Agency, reported that three people were involved in this crash, with two sustaining injuries.

Akinbiyi emphasized the need for motorists to adhere to speed limits and traffic regulations to prevent such tragedies.
