ALAN Urges Law Firms to Focus on Scaling and Growth

The Association of Law Firms Administrators Nigeria (ALAN) convened its fifth Annual Managing Partners Roundtable (MPR) in Lagos, themed “The Scalable Law Firm: The New Equation for Thriving.” Ms. Modupe Olusoga, President of ALAN, stated that the MPR aimed to address critical issues in law firm management, emphasizing that firms must extend beyond legal expertise to excel in management. Keynote speaker Mr. Osaro Eghobamien, SAN, outlined three essential requirements for scaling a law firm: developing personnel, institutionalizing clients, and safeguarding the firm’s culture.

He stressed the need for firms to invest in professional development and shift the perception of clients from individual lawyers to the firm as a whole. The panel included notable figures such as Mr. Soji Awogbade and Ms. Olujoke Aliu, who discussed the distinction between growth and scale, with Aliu highlighting the necessity of a clear vision for governance and operations.

The discussions underscored the importance of collaboration among law firms to enhance capacity.
