LAWMA Arrests Illegal Cart Pushers to Curb Waste in Lagos

The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has intensified its enforcement activities across Lagos State, resulting in the arrest of illegal cart pushers as part of a renewed effort to curb indiscriminate waste disposal and protect the environment. This enforcement drive, carried out by LAWMA's waste investigation and surveillance unit, aims to sustain cleanliness across major areas of the state.

According to a statement released by the Lagos State Government, the apprehended cart pushers were caught collecting and dumping refuse at undesignated locations, which directly undermines ongoing clean-up operations and contributes to environmental degradation. LAWMA officials confiscated carts used in these illegal activities in several locations, including Anthony Oke, Newcastle, Ifako, Gbagada, and Alagomeji in Yaba.

The Lagos State Government described these operations as part of the agency's continuous resolve to eliminate unregulated waste practices and restore environmental order. Residents are advised to stop patronizing cart pushers and comply fully with approved waste disposal procedures to help maintain cleanliness in Lagos State.
