LAWMA Cracks Down on Illegal Waste Disposal in Lagos Island, Arrests One

The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) carried out a crackdown in Lagos Island, seizing several waste carts and arresting a 42-year-old man, Muritala Suleiman from Zamfara State, for allegedly dumping waste illegally at Tinubu Square. The operation aimed to disrupt unauthorized waste movement and prevent the re-emergence of illegal dump points.

LAWMA emphasized the importance of early-hour surveillance to combat illegal dumping activities. The agency's Managing Director, Dr.

Muyiwa Gbadegesin, highlighted the need for sustained enforcement to protect and maintain clean areas, urging residents to comply with approved waste disposal channels to support efforts in keeping public spaces clean.
