Ebonyi Lawmaker Rejects Genocide Claims Against Governor

On Thursday, Lawmaker Chinedu Ogah, representing Ezza South/Ikwu Federal Constituency in Ebonyi State, refuted allegations of genocide against Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru. The accusations were made by Abuja-based human rights activist Joi Idam, who claimed that Governor Nwifuru committed genocide related to land disputes with the Amasiri community.

Ogah described Idam's claims as unfounded and misleading, urging him to apologize to the people of Ebonyi State. He emphasized that the allegations were inflammatory and could exacerbate existing tensions, particularly given the region's history of land disputes over the past two decades.

Ogah highlighted the governor's efforts to restore peace through collaboration with community leaders and noted that significant progress had been made in resolving conflicts. He asserted that anyone not present on the ground should refrain from making such serious accusations against the governor.
