Ex-Lawmaker's Aide Gets 8-Year Jail Term for N120m Job Scam

Goni Yilkan, a former legislative aide and banker, has been sentenced to an eight-year jail term by the Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for a N120 million job scam. Yilkan was convicted of obtaining money under false pretenses related to securing employment opportunities.

The sentencing, handed down by Justice Messiri of the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Jabi, Abuja, followed Yilkan's arraignment on charges of fraudulent activities. The EFCC, through its official Instagram account, highlighted the conviction as a significant milestone in combating financial crimes and protecting unsuspecting victims from fraudulent schemes.
