Tinubu Appoints Tunji Disu as New Acting IGP

On Wednesday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu decorated Tunji Disu as the new Acting Inspector General of Police at the State House in Abuja. Disu, a 59-year-old officer from Lagos State, assumes the role following the resignation of Kayode Egbetokun, which was confirmed on Tuesday.

President Tinubu charged Disu with the responsibility of restoring peace and strengthening security nationwide, emphasizing the critical moment of his appointment. He highlighted the need for the police to rebuild public confidence and maintain safety as a top priority.

Disu, in his address, acknowledged the emotional significance of his appointment and stressed the necessity of public cooperation for police effectiveness. He committed to ending impunity and corruption within the force.

The ceremony was attended by senior government officials and security chiefs, and Tinubu expressed confidence in Disu's leadership capabilities to tackle Nigeria's security challenges, including banditry and terrorism.
