Tunji Disu Confirmed as New Inspector General of Police

The Police Council has confirmed Tunji Disu as the new Inspector General of Police, effective immediately, following the resignation of former Inspector General Kayode Egbetokun. President Bola Tinubu is set to officiate the swearing-in ceremony on February 24, 2024, during the scheduled Federal Executive Council meeting.

President Tinubu expressed gratitude for Egbetokun's distinguished service to the Nigeria Police Force and acknowledged the current security challenges facing the nation. The confirmation meeting took place at the State House, attended by notable figures including Vice President Kashim Shettima, state governors, and other key officials.

Disu, born on April 13, 1966, in Lagos State, joined the Nigeria Police Force on May 18, 1992, and has held various significant positions, including Assistant Inspector General and head of the Special Protection Unit. His commendable service record includes a tenure as the commander of the Rapid Response Squad in Lagos State from 2015 to 2021.
