Egbetokun Takes Charge of Nigeria Police Force Amid Reforms

During a ceremony in Abuja, the newly appointed head of the Nigeria Police Force, Egbetokun, expressed that leading the force is his highest professional privilege. This event also marked the retirement of former Inspector General Olatunji Disu, who concluded a distinguished career spanning over three and a half decades on February 25.

Egbetokun highlighted the ongoing reforms aimed at enhancing the operational capacity of the Nigeria Police Force to address contemporary security challenges. He mentioned initiatives to promote meritocracy, strengthen intelligence-led policing, and expand operational capabilities.

Furthermore, he discussed the establishment of new police mobile force squadrons and area commands to bring the police closer to the people. Egbetokun also noted the importance of strategic partnerships with local and international entities to enhance the global standing of the Nigeria Police Force.
